Burning Man

Thousands of people assemble in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert once a year to form Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. Everyone is welcome in this crucible of invention.

The festival began in 1986 on Baker Beach, near San Francisco. Harvey and Jerry, together with 20 others, set fire to an 8-foot tall wooden sculpture of a man. Later that year, they moved the celebration from the beach to the desert. And currently, over seventy thousand people from all over the world attend this spectacular event.

The 2022 Burning Man theme will focus on the transformational power of dreams, both literal and metaphorical, as well as the dreamers who harness this powerful energy in mind-blowing, often strange, and sometimes life-changing ways.

What to Bring to Burning Man ?

Okay, most novices don’t forget these three things, but we can’t stress how crucial they are to remember! You will not be permitted to enter Burning Man without your actual, tangible ticket, so you will be really disappointed in yourself if you leave it on your kitchen counter on your way out the door.

Even though Burning Man has a “gifting” system, you’ll still need cash to buy ice. It’s one of only two items available for purchase on the playa (the other is coffee). You’ll also need ice throughout the week to keep your drinks and perishables cool.

You’ll also need plenty of water, which many folks would gladly give you if you run out. However, bring 2 liters of water per person every day.

Biodegradable Wet Wipes

You’re about to become filthy than you’ve ever been. Trust me, stock up on biodegradable wet wipes. This will be a life saver for your experience at Burning man

Face Mask and Goggles

You can’t properly appreciate a Burning Man dust storm unless you’ve been caught in one. We were in ‘deep playa,’ and we had to crawl into an art installation for many hours until it passed since we couldn’t see more than a foot ahead of us. It’s insane, and if you don’t have goggles and anything to cover your mouth and nose when a dust storm strikes, you’re going to get hurt.

Tent Fan

Unless you plan on staying in a luxurious RV and blasting the AC while trying to sleep, you’ll be toasty in your tent as soon as the sun comes up. And, because you’ll be up late a lot, you’ll want to sleep past sunrise. Hang a battery-powered fan on the roof of your tent to keep the air moving as you sleep.
